You’ll have access to the home’s four car driveway, in addition to: -the backyard, two-person swing, BBQ, and hammock. -beach towels, snorkeling masks, and children’s beach toys. -a washer and dryer (soap and other laundry necessities included). -fresh fruits from the property’s fruit trees (when in season). -infant/child car seats, playpens, and toys (for an additional charge). Not to mention all the spectacular adventures and landscapes to indulge around the Fort Lauderdale and South Florida area. That said, we’ll be readily available to answer any and every question you may have throughout your visit. Upon arriving to this waterfront retreat, the first thing that catches your eye is the plethora of flowers and fruit trees lining the front of the property. We love to spend so much time in the front yard, we set up a small breakfast nook hidden from the street but immersed in the surrounding greenery. The soursop tree in the front yard has all kinds of medicinal properties, so if you have the chance, grab one of these rare, delicious tropical fruits off the branch and enjoy. For a more wild experience, head over to the backyard where great blue heron, anhinga and manatee sightings are frequent and magical. Sunrises and sunsets are best experienced from the comfort of the backyard couples’ swing or while sitting on the dock watching the water change hues as the day progresses. A perfect place to drink your favorite hot beverage before the start of your day or great way to wind down your adventure-filled day. After spending all day out in the heat, you'll appreciate being able to lay in the hammock for a cool down at sunset. Make sure you have an icy cold beverage in hand when you do. Planning to spend time inside? The kitchen is well stocked with all the crucial tools to whip up a delicious and healthy feast. With this backyard, dining al fresco will be your preferred way to savor meals at home. Seeing as rain is a common feature of South Florida days, there are also many board games to keep you entertained. A TV (with Netflix and Róku) in the family room makes the perfect friend if those rainy days extend longer than expected. Neighborhood overview The Coral Ridge-Bal Harbor neighborhood is nestled between three of the city’s main thoroughfares (US1, Sunrise Blvd, and Oakland Park Blvd) giving you a geographic advantage to reach any of the city’s offerings in minutes time. However, don't be fooled. The neighborhood is one of the most serene locations in all of Fort Lauderdale, even though it's located near one of the busiest streets in the city. You'll find all types of great shopping, restaurants, or bakeries in either direction on US1. Please refer to our neighborhood guide to fully grasp the abundance of activity there is to enjoy throughout the area. There's most certainly something for everyone. For the guests who love cooking, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are a ten minute walk from the front door of your vacation home. Every Tuesday afternoon/early evening, Whole Foods hosts a local farmer's market outside the store. Fresh organic options abound at this small market. Many times, you just don't want to cook. Well, the dozen or so restaurants located nearby should solve the problem. You can find everything from inexpensive and tasty Baja Mexican food to fine French food, all under a 20 minute walk. Located in a gated community, the neighborhood is a splendid place to jog or walk while taking in the beautifully-landscaped homes and waterfront views. The gate limits the traffic inside the neighborhood. There are marked bike lanes, so it's also ideal for family strolls and bike riding. You'll always see the neighbors out and about enjoying the tranquil surroundings. A very friendly place indeed. Of course, the neighborhood’s most captivating characteristic is its proximity to the beach. Head east on Sunrise Blvd, then north on AIA and you'll find some of the quieter, less frequented beaches in Fort Lauderdale. Just be aware of the turtle nesting sights between March - October. For a more lively beach scene, head south on AIA towards Las Olas Blvd. Parks and nature are key to the neighborhood's uniqueness. One of our favorite things to do is to ride our bikes to Birch State Park and picnic along the intracoastal waterway. You never know what kind of water fowl you’ll see feeding along its banks. There are also public tennis courts and basketball courts in George English Park, which also sits along the banks of the Middle River. Have some time on your hands and want to see why they call Fort Lauderdale the Venice of America? Then head to the most convenient water taxi stop and cruise up and down the intracoastal waterway. If yachts are your thing, you should definitely dine at one of the nearby waterside eateries and watch the sea-worthy vessels hum by your table. Getting around There's loads to enjoy walking distance of the home. For farther distances, public and private transportation are available. Here are some suggestions: Most guests rent vehicles during their stay. We will happily recommend a couple of car rental companies if this option interests you, with the nearest one to the home just 6 blocks away. Lyft and UberX are the most common modes of private transportation used by foreigners and locals alike. It’s approximately $5 to the beach, $10 to downtown, and $15 to the FLL airport. The city offers public bus service, with the nearest bus stop just 2-3 blocks away, depending if you're on the route. Visit the Broward County Transit website for more details on routes and schedules. There's also taxi service apps like ZabCab that facilitate yellow taxi service. Some taxi service apps accept credit cards. Although unconventional, the water taxi is a fantastic way to explore the city from a unique perspective. You can even make a whole day out of it and cruise south to Hollywood. The nearest stop to the home is either at Shooter's Waterfront Restaurant or Hugh T Birch State Park (The last two stops on the north route). house Rules By renting this Property, You (the renter) and your guests agree to follow the rules of ordinance 15-278 of the City of Fort Lauderdale code: - Any sound shall not be plainly audible for a period of one (1) minute or longer at a distance of twenty-five (25) feet or more when measured from the source property line between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. daily and at a distance of fifty (50) feet or more when measured from the source property line between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily; - All vehicles associated with the vacation rental must be parked within a driveway as per the sketch behind each bedroom door. - Trash containers shall not be placed earlier than 6 PM of the day prior to trash pick up.
